Fear Photo
With their blistering, nihilistic punk rock, Fear was one of the leading Los Angeles hardcore bands of the early '80s. More than most hardcore bands, Fear relied on shock techniques, dark humor, and vulgarity; frequently singer Lee Ving's lyrics were outright offensive, particularly concerning women and homosexuals. After two records, the band imploded and Ving pursued a successful acting career. Over the next few years, Thunes was replaced by Mondo Lopez, and Cruse by Richard Presley; in 2000, the revamped Fear returned on the Hall of Records label with American Beer, another all-new album. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
