Government Issue PhotoLed by vocalist John Stabb Schroeder, Government Issue started out as an early-'80s Washington, D.C. hardcore band, and at one time featured Minor Threat bassist Brian Baker.

After several records of good but generic hardcore showing flashes of potential, the band started to add influences like punk, metal, melodic pop, and even psychedelia, drawing comparisons to The Damned.
