|It's Immaterial, an arty synth-pop group from Manchester, England, consisted of vocalist John Campbell and multi-instrumentalist Jarvis Whitehead, plus assorted guest backing musicians, which have included members of The Christians.
After a self-titled debut EP in 1985, It's Immaterial recorded the eclectic album Life's Hard and Then You Die, which produced a minor U.K. hit in "Driving Away From Home (Jim's Tune)." The duo dropped out of sight for four years, returning in 1990 with Song, an experimental album consisting mostly of repeated musical patterns underneath recited lyrics with no choruses. Song was not a success, and the group faded from sight once again. ~ Steve Huey, All Movie Guide
