Ian North PhotoAfter the demise of his baseball-uniform-bedecked twee pop band Milk 'n' Cookies, which traveled from Long Island to England to record their only album in 1977, singer/guitarist/keyboardist Ian North embarked on a solo career. North remained in England for a time, first putting together a new wave band called Neo that went nowhere; tracks recorded by Neo were revised and issued in 1979 as North's first solo record, Neo. North then returned home to New York and began concentrating on home-recorded synth pop on 1980's My Girlfriend's Dead; its 1982 follow-up, the self-released Rape of Orchids, featured only a synthesizer and proved to be the finale of North's recording career. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
