Red Rockers PhotoBeginning life as politically oriented Clash devotees, New Orleans' Red Rockers made their recording debut in 1981 with Condition Red. The lineup of John Griffith (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Darren Hill (bass), James Singletary (guitar), and Jim Reilly (drums, ex-Stiff Little Fingers) then hit the studio for 1983's Good As Gold, which marked a move away from constant political rhetoric toward more melodic music.

This approach was rewarded when "China" became a moderate hit, but further success proved elusive. 1984's Schizophrenic Circus saw the Red Rockers attempting to blend anthemic folk-rock into their sound but coming up short on original material; consequently, the group disbanded soon afterwards. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
